Cruisin' Grand

Every Friday night during the summer-ish months in Escondido, we have what's called Cruisin' Grand. It gives people the opportunity to show off their vintage cars and for others to walk around and admire them (the cars, that is.) We went last night, but it was drizzly so hardly anybody came out. But that meant no crowds and a 5-minute wait for our party of 9 at Filippi's Pizza. There weren't near as many cars as usual, but it was still fun.

Can I have this one, please?

Oh, how I love random things. Somewhere there is a child missing a sock...

30 weeks pregnant

I can't believe it's been 30 weeks already! Only 10 more weeks (70 days) to go until my due date. I am just now starting to feel uncomfortable and have mastered the pregnancy waddle. But, I am loving being pregnant!

Back from "War"

So, this past weekend, Douglas went to Potrero for their semi-annual SCA "war." (Click here for a refresher on what "war" is.) He left on Thursday morning and came back yesterday afternoon. I missed him and it's so good to have him back. He had fun, though, and I'm glad he got to go. I was considering going also like I always do, but we really didn't have the money for both of us to go, I wanted to be here for a wedding reception and dressing up in heavy period clothing in 80-degree weather while 6 1/2 months pregnant didn't really sound appealing to me. A lot of people were counting on Douglas to go and he really wanted to, so I couldn't be the selfish wife and make him stay home with me. I asked him to take pictures, but he forgot and didn't even take one, so here are some at the last fighter practice:

He's got a full set of period armor that looks SO cool

He brought me back a present! A beautiful butterfly pin

A message from Baby

When's the best time to practice my kickboxing skills inside Mommy's tummy?

When she's trying to sleep, of course!

American Idol

Am I the ONLY one who doesn't like Adam? I've been a fan of Danny's since Hollywood week when one of his songs (I wish I could remember which) gave me goosebumps, so I was very disappointed when he got voted off tonight. In my opinion, Danny has been consistent every week (except for rock week, but he's not a rocker) and his pitch was always right on. Even though I think Adam is crazy talented and his range is impeccable, he's been pitchy sometimes and screeches a lot, and I just don't like him. And Kris is good, but I think Danny was way better.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all past, present and future mothers! I celebrated my first Mother's Day today because technically I'm a mom. I'm just taking care of her on the inside rather than the outside. My Mother's Day gift was a maternity swimsuit that I got to pick out myself. I had such a HARD time finding a suit. Either the stores didn't have a maternity section, the prices online were too high, the suits didn't fit, etc. My final destination was Target and ta da! I have a swimsuit! It has already been put to good use.

Today we had my grandparents and another family over for dinner. This was the menu my dad displayed:

3rd Trimester

Today I am 27 weeks pregnant and have officially hit my 3rd trimester! It doesn't feel like it yet, but I'm sure I'll be plenty uncomfortable in the coming weeks. Thank goodness for swimming pools!

SCA

Douglas and I are part of an organization called the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a Medieval and Renaissance reenactment group. It is separated into kingdoms, which are then separated into territories such as baronies and cantons. Our kingdom consists of California, Nevada and Hawaii, our barony consists of San Diego and Imperial Counties and our canton is Escondido. The Canton of Summergate held it's anniversary celebration at a park in Oceanside today. There were tournaments and workshops and fun stuff to do. It's fun to dress up in period clothing and act as though we lived in that time period.
