Random babbling

Today we went and picked up some furniture from our friends who are moving. We got a couch, a big comfy chair, and (drum roll, please)....... a tv! I can't believe it! After our tv broke, lo and behold, we get a call asking if we would like a tv! We had a 27-inch before and now we've upgraded to a 36-inch. It barely fits in our house. We tried it out today watching American Idol from last night. I can't believe Carly's gone! I seriously thought she would make it to the finale with David Archuleta. I cried I was so bummed. Anyway, yesterday I went and gave blood and got a sticker! They didn't give out t-shirts. :( Today I got another student after losing one a couple weeks ago so I'm back to 15. Oh, and I weighed myself and I've lost a grand total of 22 pounds! Only 28 to go! Did you catch all that?

Disneyland

On Wednesday we went to Disneyland as part of our anniversary celebration (it will be 3 years on April 30.) It was the perfect day to go. The weather was great! The longest line we had to wait in was 33 minutes, which was the new Finding Nemo submarine ride. Next longest was 30 minutes for Indiana Jones. The rest were 15 minutes or less. Some we didn't have to stand in line at all. We went on Pirates of the Caribbean twice and both times we just walked up and stepped right into the boat. 3 1/2 years ago, Douglas proposed to me on Pirates. As we were passing the treasure chest, he said, "As pirates search for treasure, I've already found mine" and he slipped the ring on my finger. So the Pirates ride has always been special for us. This year we finally were able to eat dinner at the Blue Bayou (it sits inside the ride.) We were given "Happy Anniversary" pins and a free dessert! It was a bit pricey, but the service was incredible and the ambiance was romantic. The whole day was just so much fun.

I'm not normally into baseball, but last night I started watching the Padres game on tv at 11 (it started at 7.) They had just scored 1 and 1 in the top and bottom of the 13th inning. It ended up going for 22 innings when the Rockies FINALLY scored a run and the Padres didn't. It ended at 1:20am. The announcers and cameramen were getting punchy so they started joking around and throwing peanuts at each other. I've never laughed so hard at a baseball game!

The weekend

Saturday we went to the Renaissance Faire here in Escondido. Douglas dressed up but I really don't have anything to dress up in so I didn't. It was ridiculously hot (in the 90s.) Despite the heat, it was pretty fun. Merchants, performers, fighting, lots of stuff. I bought this cool hair thingy. Saturday night we went to our ward activity. It was a melodrama with costumes, sets, hisses and cheers, the whole thing! It was a ton of fun.

Sunday I was able to go to my own ward (congregation) finally. I haven't been able to go since January because it conflicted with Oklahoma so I had to go to an earlier ward. It felt so good to be home!

Money and Stuff

This week, we took our car to the mechanic to get a few things fixed. We were carless for almost 3 days. At least that wasn't as bad as last summer when we were without our car for about 2 months. We've put so much money into it. But we really love our little Saturn. So we spent almost $400 this week. And now we have to buy a new tv. Ours is super old and when you turn it on, you can hear the sound but the picture takes longer and longer to load. Today it took almost an hour and a half. So we have to plan if we want to watch tv. We'll probably be shopping all weekend through craigslist and such because we're too cheap to buy one brand new. Oh, well. Today I started a new student. Also one on Tuesday. Now I'm up to 15. I can still use more. *hint*hint* That's all for now.

Oklahoma fun

This picture pretty much sums up all the Oklahoma fun. I can't believe it's over!

Oklahoma!

Today I finished what my life has been revolved around for the past 11 weeks: Oklahoma at the Welk Resort with my dad. I played violin in the pit. It was a bittersweet ending because I have been so used to playing 8 shows a week of the same show that it will be strange not going back. Physically, it will be great to have a break because I'm usually in pain when I play. Some days are worse than others (especially double show days.) I have been having problems with my shoulders, back, neck and wrists. Going to a chiropractor is helping, but not completely getting rid of the problem. So, a break will be nice. Everyone told me I would get tired of the show, but I never really did. Now that it's over, I will have tons of free time. I have quite a few students so I won't be completely bored. Right now I will be concentrating on teaching and building up my students until the summer when I have 2 more gigs lined up. I will be participating in the San Diego Youth Symphony's International Youth Symphony. I was involved with SDYS for 8 years, so I am no stranger to how they work and get things accomplished. Immediately following the last concert, I will play viola in the pit for Les Mis at Moonlight. It's only 2 weeks so I think I can handle it. :)

Join the club

Well, since everyone else is doing it, I thought I might as well start being a "blogger" so everyone can keep up with our fascinating lives. We've been married for almost 3 years (my, how time flies!) and are keeping busy with work and such. I'll keep you posted on new and exciting events. Well, not necessarily exciting... just new.
